A Firehose of Information Is Never the Answer. 

 

The organization's existing orientation program consisted of a 4-hour live workshop hosted by energetic teammates and included tech setup, and company overview. It was A LOT of information delivered through direct instruction. And if you asked employees what they remembered from that first drink from the fire hose, you'd see very clearly that information does not equal transformation. It was time to reconsider scope, sequence, format and length of our content. 

 

Simultaneous to the new hire experience re-design, our company adopted Axonify as our new learning platform which allowed us to choreograph a truly engaging learning path. Working with P+C stakeholders, we proposed bite-sized e-learning modules, new hire action tasks, new hire "care package" aligned to the program, calendar of events for cross-departmental networking and a framework for managers to support and make an impactful first impression to their new teammates.

The e-learning components were designed to be 10-minute or less "Fasterclasses" with interactive content, simulations and gamified reinforcement questions. The example included here covers the company's cultural elements, goals and guiding questions that are embedded in a planner designed for the new hire "care package". It was developed with Articulate Rise and includes a Storyline interaction that simulates the company's e-commerce app so that learners can "shop" for the company's cultural elements.
